USING THE CLOUD

Cloud computing the act of utilizing a network, usually the Internet, to store information that you want to access from multiple network devices. By utilizing “The Cloud”, you can get to any of your uploaded information anywhere you have access to the Internet.

REMOTE ACCESS

Students will learn how to remotely access and manipulate an offsite computer using remote access software such as Real VNC.

KEYBOARDING/DATA ENTRY CLASS

Students learn proper typing techniques and complete numerous practice assignments and drills in order to improve speed and accuracy in both keyboarding and the 10-key pad. At the beginning of the course, a typical student will type an average of 10 wpm or less. RE TECH

Utilizes a number of training tools such as Mavis Beacon and GCF. By the end of the class, each student should reach a minimum expected goal of 45 wpm. Throughout this class, students will learn to effectively and efficiently use word processing and database applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel, become comfortable with professional letter writing, and understand how to use a wide variety of Office Templates.

ADVANCED COMPUTER CLASSS:

This class focuses on improving the skills listed in the Basic Computer Class, plus customization of education plan for the addition of the following:

Customer Service, Cash register, Handling Difficult Customers, Product Knowledge, Loss Prevention, Building Customer Loyalty, Advertising, Merchandising, Receiving, Shipping, Inventory, Managing your supply level, and, Point of Sales systems

COMPUTER REFURBISHING CLASS:

A basic understanding of computers is required. The following skills will be covered:

  • Understanding CMOS and BIOS
  • Computer troubleshooting
  • Hardware identification
  • Hardware installation/troubleshooting
  • Hardware upgrading
  • OS installation
  • Application installations
  • Monitors
  • Printers
  • Peer-to peer networking
  • Wireless networks
  • Home and small office networks

Upon completion of this class the student will have a working knowledge to refurbish/build a basic computer and will have completed approximately 10 builds.

COMPUTER ACCESSITILITY TRAINING:

Accessibility makes it easier to see, hear, and interface with the computer. This training will give an overview of accessibility features built into Operating Systems and other Microsoft freeware supports.

Tablet Edition OS will be used based on individual need assessment.

POINT OF SALE TRAINING

This class consists of how to successfully function in a retail business. RE TECH focus is on the development of well-trained cashiers and customer service personnel. We offer tailored training and consulting programs in each of the following areas:

RESUME WRITING

This class will teach the student how to develop an intelligible and professional resume suited for any job and all levels of experience.

OFFICE SYSTEMS TRAINING:

Our office training classes is a comprehensive hands-on course consisting of proficiency in the following areas:

WEB DESIGN

Students will create their own website by learning and using several website design and development of software. Software includes but not limited to:

  • DreamWeaver
  • WordPress
  • Net Object Fusion

Students will learn how to maintain a website and the importance of SEO.

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL)

This course starts with the students’ current language knowledge to introduce the English language and help students adjust to daily use of English. Students will use beginning English language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing for everyday and essential academic purposes. Also include, is the use of Basic English language structures sentence patterns in short conversations; read short adapted texts; and write phrases and short sentences. Students will utilize the computer based interactive language lab for self-assessment and for practice and retention of skill-specific exercises. A software fee may apply depending on choice in programming.

OJTT

ON THE JOB TRAINING:

Placement of the right candidates for our on the job training partnership with local not-for-profits and for-profit corporations aids in permanent job placements for our existing students. This program is available to RE TECH students only. Corporate relationships and OTJ (On The Job) placements are available in the following industries:

ELECTIVE COMPUTER CLASSES:

RE TECH offers a wide variety of individual elective classes. These are offered to RE TECH students and are also open for public enrollment. Enrollment is limited to four (4) students per class due to interactive/hands-on instruction style.
